Excellent Tools for Distributed Teams

Today we discuss about some tools for distributed teams, but before we jump into it, lets discuss the future of distributed work and if its just a fad.

Before corona, there was 300% increase in remote work, decade by decade. Corona accelerated the process and more than 80% companies worldwide recommended or enforced work from home, during pandemic. Companies realized very quickly the benefits and disadvantages of distributed work with most companies finding remote work substantially more productive.

Early innovators (mostly tech companies) with knowledge workers decided to completely kill off HeadQuarters.

Some notables names here are: Shopify, Twitter, Pinterest, Square, Quora.

People are very productive and actually prefer working from home. They don‘t have to worry about a commute and they aren‘t limited in where they live. Adam D‘Angelo, CEO @Quora

Advantages: Productivity, Time with your family/kids. Dont have to commute.

Disadvantages: Social life since many people form friendships with their work colleagues.

In order to improve our distributed work experience we use the following tools:

Standuply: We create daily Async Standups with Standuply. You can configure your own questions. At the end of the day, they send reports with all filled in information.

Loom: Online Video tool. We create small Loom videos and share it with team members. Subtantially easier than Excellent to add it to tickets that you create for your distributed team

Remote: Very useful for hiring remote teams. They take care of Internatonal Payroll, Taxes, Benefits, Compliance, so that you dont have to worry about it. It is truly your local HR team on every continent.

Asana: Project management tool. We use it manage all our tasks. Very lightweight and fast to create, delete, assign tickets.

Culturly: Culture Platform for Distributed Teams. Solving problem of company culture for distributed teams. Slack app through which mood reports/surveys are sent weekly to employees and their happines is checked. Then different onlne Events are recommended based on collected data. Excellent recommendation system for online events as well.
